Course description 

Block class 

1 semester- 1 credit/Quarter 

Enviromental Science is a course that will expand on ecological principles and concepts covered in junior high science, chemistry, physics and biology, as wells as give the student exposure to field biology and basic enviormental research. It is intended to give interested students considering post secondary training in this area, an introduction to environmental science.

Week 1

Begin reading the Sand County Almanac

Find and record the Benthic Macroinvertebrates at the River sight

Week 2-4

Summarize Benthic Macroinvertebrate results

Continue reading Sand County Almanac

Transects of the river at the 9 locations of the previous years

Week 5

Continue reading Sand County Almanac

Finish Transects and River Clean up

Week 6

Continue reading Sand County Almanac

Begin compilation of River Data for final project

Begin timber study

Introduce Native Prairie plant identification

Week 7

Continue reading Sand County Almanac

Week 8

Continue timber study & begin chemical test of the river

Week 9

Work on final project compiling & analyzing all Data recorded
